Emily

May 12th was Emily's birthday - (the day after Grandma Pearl and Scott's birthday). Thelissa and I, and her roommate April went to her classroom for a "Birthday Celebration". Emily threw a little party to celebrate all her student's birthdays. They played a "Guess Who?" game, learned which season their birthday falls into and signed birthday cards for each other. And - of course - there were cupcakes! Her students then performed a couple of presentations they had prepared for her. They were so darling. We had a great time.
Happy Birthay Em!!!

What do you think? - The real story

The responses from Katie's video survey are actually from the following questions: What do you think of the blizzard? and What do you think of the pot roast? I'll let you figure out which questions goes with which response. :)
(For the record, Lizzie does not think that the baby is terrible.)

Grandma Pearl

Thelissa and I went to see Grandma Pearl on her birthday. We had a great visit. She was very sleepy when we first got there but had perked up by the end. We asked her a variety of questions in hopes of documenting her answers. The nurses had made her a Happy Birthday sign. She looked beautiful in her red shirt.

Two Surprises for Grama Annie

We took yet another trip - this time to see Grama Annie. We told her that we had two surprises for her. The trip took an hour longer than we expected but we were very happy to finally arrive at Grama Annie's house! This is us with big smiles after 11 hours riding in a car. (In case you were wondering, Johnnie is taking the picture.)

SURPRISE #1

Yes, after 6 years and 8 months Ray was released as Bishop! Yahoo!

SURPRISE #2

Yes, that is an ultrasound picture and yes, it is on a pink ribbon.

WE ARE HAVING A BABY AND IT IS A GIRL!!!
EDD - 9/1/11

The best part is we got Grama Annie's reaction on video!

Puss in Boots and a baby shower...

(I know this is very random - these two events are not even related except they happened days apart from each other. Actually, I didn't want to do two separate posts.)

Lizzie walks out of her room, one Sunday afternoon, and says, "I am... Puss in Boots".
Decked out with boots, hat and sword.
Look closely - she even has the mustache and beard!
Lizzie is definitely our comic relief. :)

And now to the baby shower. A good friend of mine was having a baby so I threw her a baby shower. (She is the one in the first picture - she didn't realize I was taking a picture.) I wouldn't normally post about someone else's shower but I wanted to show off the refreshment table. I thought it turned out pretty darn cute. She did her nursery in brown and green with frogs as her theme, so I wanted to bring that to the shower. I added a hint of blue.

Brown and green refreshments.
The card you see to the left with blue letters was the invitation. It turned out darling, but took way to long to make. If I had taken a close up picture of the invite you would completely understand.

Last but not least, lime sherbet punch...de-lish!

About a month later Andrew Aiden Herrera was born. I got to witness the birth - so fascinating!

My good friend and new mommy - Shanon.

I love to see the temple

Once again, I am going backwards. As part of our California trip, we went to the L.A. temple. We walked the temple grounds and went to the visitor's center. Believe it or not, it was very chilly - we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.

Johnnie, Katie and Lizzie enjoying the "Home-Front Series" videos in the visitor's center. We were amazed at all the displays and exhibits at this visitor's center.

Our family is FOREVER!

I love to see the temple, I'm going there someday!

Disneyland 2011

I know it's been a whole month since I have posted to my blog. I do have a very good reason - actually many. Since the big party my life has been quite eventful - my parents came into town, after which Becca and her sweet family. Lizzie gave me her cold which put me down for about a week and then I had to wait for Ray to bring me the cord from his office so I could download these pictures from the camera. Enough with the excuses though...
I am backtracking a little because all of our Disneyland pictures were on our small camera and the cord to download was at Ray's office - the one I had to wait for. :)

We surprised our kids and took them to Disneyland and Knottsberry Farm. My two sisters, Thelissa and Charisse and their families also came. We had a blast. Here we are - at the entrance to "The Happiest Place on Earth"!

Don't we look happy?
Standing in line to ride the Matterhorn.
Lizzie and Katie finally tall enough to ride the "big" rides. Cousin Ashley is sandwiched in between.
The most Awesome couple at Disneyland that day.
Ray kept disappearing on us - we finally found him. Lizzie, Ellie, Charisse and Bella with
Mr. Incredible (a.k.a. Ray Johnson)

End of day 1 - having fun is hard work.
Day 2 - Taking the shuttle to Disneyland. Look how well rested and excited we look - especially Johnnie!

Lizzie was the only one who wanted to take pictures with the Disney characters. Here she is with Goofy and Pluto.

We convinced Katie to jump into this picture.
Katie had no problem, though, posing with this Indian.
Lucy, Ellie, Lizzie and Bella waiting in line to see the princesses and to get their books signed.
Lizzie was pretty excited.

Princess Heaven

Lizzie getting ready to have her face painted.

We gave each of our kids a small amount of money to spend - this is what Lizzie chose to buy with her money.
Katie and Ashley - best friend cousins
Cruella De-vil - she was hilariously sarcastic.
Lizzie buying the one treat she really wanted - cotton candy.

California Adventure - Lizzie with Toy Story characters.
(Lizzie went to get in line and they closed it right before she got there. This is as close as she got to Woody.)

All the cousins - minus one. Will wouldn't have anything to do with the picture. Left to right - Ellie, Eliza, Lucy, Lizzie, Porter, Ashley, Katie, Lindsay, Johnnie, Bella (in stroller), Brigham, Tanner and last but not least, Clatie.
California Screamin' Ready, Set...
Go!
Posing for the camera. Ray, Johnnie, Lindsay and Eliza's forehead.
Yes, that is Katie and Ashley.
The happiest family on earth? - Absolutely!
Just chillin'.

Ah, the lovely Martineau sisters.
Day 3 - Knottsberry Farm. We split up - the older went on the roller coasters while the younger went to Camp Snoopy. The camera and I went with the younger cousins. The older cousins and the men went on ride after ride after ride - the park was almost empty - no lines at all. They rode to their hearts (and stomachs) content.
Eliza, Lucy, Lizzie and Ellie enjoying the kiddie rides.
We were exhausted by the end but enjoyed every minute of our vacation.
